Dutch Wonderland – A Day of Fun for the Kids

Dutch WonderlandAfter touring Lancaster County’s scenic countryside and learning about the unique culture of the Pennsylvania Dutch, you may want to treat the kids to a day of exciting rides at Dutch Wonderland. Geared towards young children, this amusement park has 30 rides as well as a tropical-themed water play area. Your children will surely love the rides and events geared towards them. Dutch Wonderland is a great way to keep the kids busy.

Dutch Wonderland Roller Coasters

The Dutch Wonderland website offers a comprehensive guide to its many coasters, bumper cars, and marry-go-rounds. Some rides the whole family can enjoy while others are made just for the kids. Dutch Wonderland organizes its rides by height requirement. Many are geared towards children under five feet tall with some geared towards children under three feet. There are two kid-friendly roller coasters including the Joust Family Coaster and the Kingdom Coaster. Surely with all the rides available the kids will be happily exhausted by the end of the day.

Splash Around at Duke’s Lagoon

Dutch Wonderland includes a water play area called Duke’s Lagoon where kid’s can don their bathing suits and splash around among the spray nozzles, tipping buckets, and kid-sized slides. Parents and grandparents can sit in a shaded cabana while the kids run around for a small fee. Cabanas can be rented for the day and come with two lounge chairs as well as a dining table. The cabanas also come with waited food and drink service, as the kids will surely be hungry after running around all day.

Special Events at Dutch Wonderland

No amusement park is complete without the requisite princess. Everyday children can join a Dutch Wonderland Princess or Knight for story time. You can also watch Princess Gwinneth and her dragon protect their castle at Herr’s Aqua Stadium. Thomas the Tank Engine and his engineers can also be found dancing and singing daily at Dutch Wonderland. There are a variety of shows and special events happening at Dutch Wonderland, schedules are regularly updated and posted on their website.

Visiting Dutch Wonderland

Dutch Wonderland will surely provide a day of fun for the kids. The amusement park is located on 2249 Lincoln Highway East, just four miles East of Lancaster. Parking is free and tickets are $30.95 for those aged 3-59. Seniors receive a discount and the very young can go for free. It’s possible to stay near Dutch Wonderland at the Lancaster Host Resort,  which is across the street. Dutch Wonderland and the Lancaster Host Resort are centrally located so downtown Lancaster, Kitchen Kettle Village, and Amish farms are all easily accessible.
